| For about 75 trout spawned at the Hatchery, August 28th,
2004 was
a fine day for a permanent dip in a lake.
The hatchery managers loaded up the flapping, finned fish in
coolers, drove them in pickups to Lake Garfield in Monterey and
transferred them into plastic buckets. The fish were then passed
on to a flotilla of waiting motorboats, operated by some of Lake
Garfield's summer residents. The fish included brown and
rainbow trout, each about 12" long. On the same day, to
coincide with Lake Fest, the Hatchery held a fishing derby for
youngsters with prizes awarded for the largest fish. |
